Basic Function:

Responsible for dispatching mail according to weekly schedule. All registered mail is scanned into ILMS system, verified and placed into pouches by country with non-registered mail. Specials Unit process all GBL, oversized parcels and Bag & Tag materials. Pouch Invoices are filed and reconciled to ensure receipt of registered mail. Outgoing dock personnel ensure that sealed pouches are scanned and verified before leaving mail facility.


Principal Responsibilities:

  • Operate mail service equipment: postage, complex inserts, sorters, bar coders, and fax machines.
  • Serve as liaison for mail service and other departments.
  • Deliver supplies needed for mailing projects.
  • Track and maintain records and logs of mailing.
  • Sort, distribute and collect US mail, USPS, and FedEx mail.
  • Pick-up and deliver materials for special mailings.
  • Inventory mailing supplies.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Provide communication with customers and provide timely responses to their needs
  • Ensure security procedures and requirements are consistently applied and enforced
  • Identify and respond to suspicious packages
  • Perform additional duties as directed
  • The process of all incoming and outgoing mail, maintain the internal messenger service and to provide diplomatic pouch service, to unclassified State Department Foreign Service missions.
